Yesterday we shared images from the Lelia Doolan collection of children playing in the streets of Springhill.
Happy smiling faces masked the reality of life for the same children who witnessed the destruction and brutality of the British army against their families and community.
One of those in the images was 16 year old Paul (Jason) McWilliams who was brutally murdered by British soldiers on 9th August 1977 shortly after this photo was taken.
Jason was shot in the back while getting through a gap in a fence near Corry’s Timber yard.
Jason’s family have campaigned tirelessly for truth and justice for almost 50 years.
Lelia captured images of Jason’s funeral, a sad day in the Springhill community, which we now share with the kind permission of his family.
